Five Ways House

This ugly great concrete slab with its glass frontage and outdated style would have been fairly austere even when it was built in the 1950’s.

It was designed by Cotton, Ballard & Blow who were also responsible for a number of other developments in the city. It is a large office building in Islington Row. It used to house the Ministry of Public Building and Works library. This organization has since been absorbed into the Department of the Environment.

Five Ways House is home to the Birmingham Medical Services, Prisoner Location Service, The Benefits Agency and a number of smaller organizations.
